Oconee Elections: Primary Election Candidate Filings

The primary election season has kicked off with numerous candidates filing their candidacies at the Oconee Elections office since the opening day last Saturday.

The new filings include Kevin Bishop for the 3rd District U.S. House, Christy Hubbard for Auditor, Lisa Burton for Clerk of Court, Gwen McPhail for District Five County Council, and Julian Davis and Tommy James for District Four County Council.

In addition, the list of candidates also includes Stewart O. Jones for U.S. House (District 3), Thomas C Alexander for State Senate (District 1), and Bill Whitmire and Bill Sandifer for State House (Districts 1 and 2), and Adam Duncan for State House District 2. Micah Black and Beth Blundy are competing for Solicitor Circuit 10, while Mike Crenshaw, Karl E Addis, and Tonya Y Keller have announced their candidacies for Sheriff, Coroner, and County Treasurer respectively.

For the County Council, Matthew Durham and India Lancaster are running for District 2, and Glenn Hart for District 5. All these candidates have filed for the Republican primary on June 11. The deadline for qualifying for the June 11 primaries is Noon on April 1.
