Oconee Humane Society offering Special on Spay/Neutering

A free voucher in Seneca mailboxes is promoting a special on spay/neutering at the Oconee Humane Society. Karen Mattern, Board Member of the Oconee Humane Society gives details. “This offer is basically the same thing as our previous $6 Fix Program but we are nearing the end of that program and we just wanted to try to encourage people that haven’t already taken advantage of it to come on out and get their cat spay or neutered. So, we are waiving the $6 and now it is free as long as funds last.” To qualify for this offer you must live within the boundaries of Highway 123 and Wells Highway and bring proof that you qualify in the form of a property tax bill, lease agreement or utility bill. Vouchers must be used within 90 days. The Oconee Humane Society is pleased with the success of the program thus far and hopes more people will take advantage, adds Mattern. “We have spayed and neutered so many cats in the 29678 zip code that our intake for the first half of this year compared to the first half of last year is down 55% in that zip code. So, that is pretty exciting and we are going at it with renewed vigor. I hope that we will keep on making the same kind of progress in the future with other programs. We will be looking for more funding after this one is all used up.” To aid the Oconee Humane Society with their spay/neuter programs, donations are accepted at the shelter located at 1925 Sandifer Boulevard in Seneca from 10am to 4pm weekdays.
