Oconee surpasses State Average on WorkKeys

Scores were recently released for the WorkKeys Assessment and students in the School District of Oconee County outperformed their peers across the state. Oconee County Schools Superintendent Dr. Michael Thorsland said, “We were very proud of our sixth in the state ranking for SAT district average composite score, but that test was not taken by all students. On this WorkKeys test, which is taken by all 11th graders in the state, we surpassed the South Carolina state average in the percentage of students receiving National Career Readiness Certificates.” The ACT National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC) is an assessment-based credential awarded for performance on the WorkKeys assessment. Issued at four levels, the NCRC measures and certifies the essential work skills needed for success in jobs across industries and occupations. “Notice that all our high schools surpassed the state average in both the percentage receiving the NCRC as well as on the average scores for the subtests,” said Dr. Thorsland. This is an important test because it describes the work-readiness of students.
