OCPL co-sponsors Book Talk

Katherine Scott Crawford, author of Keowee Valley, is set to visit Mountain Rest on March 30 from 2-3pm to discuss her novel and its Cherokee background. The discussion, sponsored by the Oconee County Public Library, the Oconee Heritage Center, and The Museum of the Cherokee in South Carolina is open to the public and will be hosted at Mountain Lake Grill, located beside the Mountain Rest post office. Crawford holds degrees in English and Speech and Communications Studies from Clemson University, the College of Charleston and The Citadel. She has a background in newspaper reporting and has worked as an outdoor educator.  Currently, she resides in the western mountains of North Carolina and is working toward her MFA in Writing from Vermont College of Fine Arts.  Keowee Valley is her first novel. Taking place in the Revolutionary-era Carolinas, Keowee Valley is an historical adventure which follows the story of a young woman, Quincy MacFadden, as she travels into the heart of Cherokee country. Copies of Keowee Valley are available for check out at all branches of the Oconee County Public Library, and signed copies of the novel will be available for purchase after the discussion at Mountain Lake Grill.
