OCPL to hold Seminars about Aging Successfully

Approximately 20% of Oconee County residents are 65 years or older.  Many of them will face significant life changes due to a decline in health and other circumstances. Their families may have to act as caregivers and adjustment to changes because of aging may be difficult for all involved.  Thus it is important for seniors and their families to prepare ahead as much as possible for advance care and other decisions while they are healthy. The Oconee County Public Library will host Bonnie Holmes as she present three seminars on steps seniors should take to better plan for their aging.  Holmes is the owner of local in-home care provider Loving Health Care, Inc. and has over 10 years of experience in the caregiving business.  Each seminar will take place at the Walhalla Library from 1-2pm. The first, on May 3, will be a discussion of four ingredients to aging successfully: attitude, health, good relationships, and advance care planning. The seminar on May 10 will cover problems and solutions that often challenge seniors and their families when faced with health problems and the resulting impact on their lives. The concluding seminar on May 17 will discuss the types of plans seniors and their families should consider ahead of time for a better caregiving and care receiving experience.
