OCSO Charges Westminster Man with Criminal Solicitation of a Minor

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Westminster man last Friday on a charge of Criminal Solicitation of a Minor.

Shane Adam Burdette

43 year old Shane Adam Burdette was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center on August 26th at around 4:17pm.  At this time, Burdette remains in jail on a $50,000 surety bond.

The Sheriff’s Office investigation began last Friday morning after a School Resource Officer took a report from a teenager who had sent Burdette a sexually explicit photograph.  The investigation was turned over to an Investigator with the Criminal Investigations Bureau.

Based on evidence that was gathered during the investigation, it was determined that Burdette had solicited sexually explicit images of the minor victim on Monday, August 22nd.  The investigation involves only one victim.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.  Due to the victim in this case being a minor, the Sheriff’s Office will not release any information that could, either directly or indirectly, identify the minor victim in this incident.

Sheriff’s officials confirmed to our sister station 101.7 WGOG that Burdette is the same individual who, two years ago, was re-sentenced from 15 to 10 years in prison as the result of a conviction on voluntary manslaughter in the 2013 shotgun death of James Evan Tyner on Mount Pleasant Road.
