Officer placed on leave after Fatal Accident

A Westminster Police Officer has been placed on administrative leave as an investigation continues into a fatal single vehicle accident that killed a 14-year-old driver.  Westminster Police Chief Dean Awalt said, “Our department’s prayers and thoughts go out to the families during this tragic event.” Chief Awalt said, he believes his officer followed procedures properly in chasing a suspect’s car. That car wound up wrecking Friday morning on Highway 24.  The accident claimed the life of 14-year-old Jesse Logan Hannah.  He and two other teens were ejected from a 1999 Mercury. In all, four boys were in the car. Two of the four required hospital treatment. The highway patrol is investigating the accident.
