OHC donated Dulcimers

The South Carolina Heritage Fair recently presented the Oconee Heritage Center in Walhalla with six new student Dulcimers to be used for the Heritage Center’s Appalachian Music program. The instruments were donated though a grant from the Heritage Fair as part of their commitment to promote the cultural heritage of the area. With the Dulcimers, the Heritage Center will be offering group lessons for anyone interested in learning to play the traditional Appalachian instrument. Dulcimer and other lessons including Banjo, Guitar, Mandolin and Fiddle are beginning next week. Spaces can be reserved by calling Jennifer Moss at 864-638-2224. The Carolina Foothills Heritage Fair will be held Sept. 30th – Oct. 5th, 2014 on Highway 123 in Westminster. The mission of the Fair is to provide the residents of Oconee County and surrounding communities a unique opportunity for education on the historical relevance of agriculture, and to promote the current opportunities of an agricultural lifestyle and career choices available to people of all ages.
