OJRSA Repeals Water Quality Advisories

The Oconee Joint Regional Sewer Authority has repealed the water quality advisories for both Speeds and Perkins Creeks in Oconee County. E. coli samples from the affected waterways were analyzed and any potential bacteria contamination has returned to normal levels, the agency said. The notices were issued as a precaution when wastewater spilled from two sewer pump stations after the loss of electricity as a result of the tornado. The agency also experienced one additional spill from the storm; however, the wastewater did not reach a waterway, officials said.
