One SDOC School Rated “Excellent” by SC Dept. of Education

Out of 16 public schools in Oconee, only Ravenel Elementary School received an “excellent” rating from the South Carolina Department of Education.

This year, six schools were rated as “good”, eight as “average”, and Fair-Oak Elementary was rated “below average”. No school was considered “unsatisfactory”. The county trustees will discuss these ratings in their October meeting.

April Allen of the South Carolina Education Oversight Committee pointed out a discrepancy between the state’s 84% high school graduation rate and the fact that only 29% of last year’s graduates were deemed college and career ready.
