OSCO Cpl. Watts Continues to Improve

Cpl. Lucas Watts, an Oconee County deputy shot in the head last November, is slowly recovering, according to his family. His speech, communication, and sight have improved since entering rehab. He’s showing signs of his old self and has emerged from his coma. However, he still faces complications from the shooting and surgeries. The accused shooter was denied bail last month. Gregory Wayne Maxwell, 50, is charged with six counts of attempted murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, failure to stop for blue lights, operating an unregistered vehicle, driving without a license in his possession and reckless driving.
