Out of an Abundance of Caution for Citizens, the City of Westminster Christmas Parade is Cancelled

City Will Work in Collaborative Effort with Local Organizations and Westminster Businesses to Host a Christmas Parade and Festive Holiday Market in 2021

Out of an abundance of caution for citizens, visitors and our City Businesses, the City of
Westminster has cancelled the Annual Christmas parade and accompanying events planned for Friday, December 11, 2020.

COVID-19 infection rates, as reported by the South Carolina Department of Health and
Environmental Control (SCDHEC), have increased by 655 cases in Oconee County in the last two weeks. Further, Oconee County has averaged 72 new confirmed cases per day in the past week.

SCDHEC and the CDC both recommend: “Staying home is the best way to protect yourself and others from COVID-19.”

Westminster’s City Officials said, “We take a lot of pride in the work that goes into planning our City’s Annual Christmas parade and surrounding activities. However, the protection of our close-knit community is something that our City Leaders feel is the top priority.

We appreciate all of the work and time that has gone into this event and we look forward to bringing new and exciting components to our Christmas festivities in 2021.”
