Overnight Chase on I-85 ends with Injured Suspect

An overnight chase on I85 ended with an injured suspect. It happened about 1:30am Wednesday, according to the Banks County Sheriff’s Office. Sister station WLHR reports that the chase started in Oconee County, when officers tried to pull a vehicle over for a routine traffic stop. The vehicle, driven by 24-year old Kenneth Jones, sped off and got on the Interstate headed southbound. Jones was wanted in Oconee County for outstanding warrants and a look out was placed for his vehicle. Authorities in Hart and Franklin Counties joined in the pursuit as Jones allegedly sped through three counties. Once the chase reached Banks County, Banks County Sheriff’s deputies took over the pursuit. The chase came to end on I-85 about 2am near mile marker 150 in Banks Crossing when Jones crashed his vehicle and was injured. He was thrown from the vehicle and was airlifted to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta. Jones now faces charges in Oconee County, Franklin County and Banks County.
