Pandemic Has Contributed to Excess of Waste at County Convenience Centers

The volume of trash handled by Oconee Solid Waste has risen substantially since the coronavirus pandemic began.

At this week’s county council meeting, the county’s solid waste director Swain Still said that it’s due to the fact that since more people have been confined to their homes, they have done more cleaning, which means more waste at the convenience centers, and the fact that debris is still being cleaned up from last year’s tornado.
