Patriots edge Bobcats in Defensive Struggle

The Powdersville Patriots (2-1) edged the Seneca Bobcats (2-2) Friday night, 21-17, in a defensive struggle. The Patriots scored two first quarter touchdowns on passes of 44 and 48 yards respectively. Seneca cut the score in half with a four-yard touchdown run by Jeremiah Mackey in the second quarter. In the third quarter, the Bobcats tied the scored with a 48-yard touchdown on a quarterback keeper by Coleman Smith, who filled in for starting quarterback Cole Bay after he was injured before the half. Seneca took their first lead of the game in the fourth quarter on a 33-yard field goal by Hunter Pearson. The Patriots answered back on a 24-yard touchdown pass with a little more than four minutes left in the game. The Bobcats accounted for five turnovers in the game; two interceptions by Aireeze Alexander, an interception by Jacquez Harrison, and a fumble recovery and interception by Rome Tabron. The Seneca Bobcats are back in action Friday night, Sept. 15, when they travel to play the Easley Green Wave.
