Pedals Possible: A New Way to Ride for Students with Disabilities

On Monday, February 26, a special event will take place at James M. Brown Elementary School in Walhalla. Three Oconee County elementary schools will receive adaptive bicycles from Pedals Possible, a nonprofit organization that promotes cycling for people with disabilities.

The event, organized by Walhalla Rotary, will feature a presentation of the bikes and a demonstration of how they work. Representatives from Pedals Possible, Walhalla Rotary, and the School District of Oconee County will be present to celebrate the occasion.

The adaptive bicycles are designed to accommodate different types of physical and cognitive challenges, such as cerebral palsy, autism, Down syndrome, and spinal cord injuries. They allow students to enjoy the benefits of cycling, such as exercise, fun, and social interaction.
