Personnel Changes for Westminster from Council to Clerk

In a rare Wednesday night meeting, the Westminster City Council approved a number of personnel changes. Mayor Brian Ramey and the remaining council members accepted the resignations of Brad Chastain and Danny Duncan, with Rusty Cater’s resignation set for January 31st. As such, voters in Westminster will now have to participate in a special election this spring to fill those seats on the city council.

Rebecca Overton was promoted to city clerk and treasurer after Jennifer Adams left the position to become assistant to Westminster’s utilities director.

City Administrator Kevin Bronson also announced that a residency requirement has forced him to resign as a representative of Westminster on the Oconee Joint Regional Sewer Authority Board. Bronson, who lives in Pickens County, was informed, he said, that in order to serve on the board one must reside in Oconee County.

This has led to speculation that vice-chair Scott Parris, who represents Walhalla to the OJRSA, will be elevated to the position of chairman, which he held once before, having been succeeded by Seneca’s representative Scott Moulder.
