Pickens Co. Teachers getting Raises

Teachers in the School District of Pickens County are to receive three years’ worth of pay raises. In their new budget, the School District includes two-step skipped increases, plus a state mandated increase. During the recession, the School District of Pickens County failed to provide two-step increases in employees’ pay. An increase in state funding, local growth and reducing staff provides for the raises this year, so the District does not have to ask for a tax hike. The district is cutting 16 teaching positions and 10 custodial positions that were already vacant. The budget also includes a step increase and a 2% cost-of-living raise for bus drivers.
