Pickens County Sheriff conducts Drug Sweep

Deputies with the Pickens County Sheriff’s Department conducted a drug sweep through the county this week.  Officers arrested 19 people on various drug related charges including the sale of marijuana, sale of controlled substances and sale of illegal drugs within proximity of a school or daycare. According to an announcement by the Pickens County Sheriff’s Department, 11 of the 19 people arrested are Clemson University students. Authorities seized $6,351 in cash, 300 grams of marijuana, a stolen handgun, 3 other guns, and miscellaneous equipment.  The arrests stem from a six-month joint investigation by agents with the Pickens and Oconee County Sheriff’s Departments, Clemson University Police, Clemson City Police and the State Law Enforcement Division.
