Positive City/County Relationship leading to Jobs

Oconee County was the only place in the Upstate that saw employment growth with a net addition of 50 jobs between 2008-12.  Much of that positive job growth news can be attributed to the good relationship being formed between the cities and the county.  Seneca Mayor Dan Alexander feels that positive relationship will continue to produce jobs in the coming year. “We are very excited about what the future holds.  With the county and the relationship that we have been able to build with them the last year or so under County Administrator Scott Moulder and the Oconee County Council.  We are all striving to try to help create jobs here in Oconee County and it is good to know you have got people you are working with that want to do that.” In 2012, Oconee County collaborated with the City of Seneca to purchase the old Propex property.  Two tenants are currently operating on site and the county and city are actively recruiting more tenants to the site as well.
