Post Mortem Exams conducted in Traffic Deaths

The Oconee County Coroner has released the findings of post mortem exams on the two young girls killed in an early New Year’s Day car crash.  The exams were conducted Thursday morning on one-year-old Taniyia Chavez Leann Gambrell and her sister, 4-year-old Saryia Unique Patton-Dean.  Oconee County Coroner Karl Addis announces that both children died from blunt force head trauma due to the motor vehicle collision.  The manner of death for each child is classified as accidental. According to investigators, their mother, Melissa Patton, lost control, struck a sign, and overturned the SUV she was driving.  She stands charged with two counts of felony DUI causing death and driving with a suspended license.
