Prescribed Burn at Oconee State Park

The week of February 14 – February 20, weather permitting.

This prescribed burn will cover 126 acres.

The fire should take 1 day to execute. For safety reasons, trails at Oconee State Park will be closed during the prescribed burn.  (This includes trails within the park, and trails that lead to the park.)  Trails will remain closed the day after the burn.

Trail Closures:

  • Foothills Trail (Oconee State Park section of park) Foothills Trail Conservancy has been emailed about the burn
    The best exit is Jumping Brach Access (SC 107) before reaching the park; Coordinates: 34 54.197,  -83 06.414
  • Ross Mountain Passage (Palmetto Trail) Palmetto Conservation Foundation is aware of the burn
