Public Meeting for Special Purpose District within Corinth-Shiloh Held Tuesday

Corinth-Shiloh Fire Department officials held their inaugural public meeting at Corinth Baptist Church to garner community support for transitioning into a special purpose district, aiming to shift from a fully volunteer department to a funded entity. Fire Chief Kevin Christenbury emphasized the department’s increased call volume and recruitment challenges, outlining plans to better serve residents…

The meeting, attended by 20-25 people, received predominantly positive feedback, with most attendees expressing support for the proposed change. Following county council approval, a referendum is slated for this summer to establish the special purpose district, requiring a majority vote from residents within the fire district. This initiative represents a renewed effort after a prior attempt in 2005 did not gain sufficient voter support. Additional public meetings are scheduled at Corinth Baptist Church on Thursday from 5:30-6:30 p.m. and at the Corinth-Shiloh Volunteer Fire Department on Saturday, beginning with pancakes at 9:30 a.m. followed by the public meeting from 10-11 a.m.
