Rate Increases Announced for SLAW Customers

Seneca Light and Water customers are being notified of changes to their utility bills, including an increase in sewer charges. Previously, sewer charges were shown as one amount, which included services provided by the City of Seneca’s wastewater collection system and the Oconee Joint Regional Sewer Authority (OJRSA). For sewer electric power users, a new Electric Restricted Fund Charge has been introduced. This is due to the City of Seneca’s wholesale electric power suppliers increasing their rates by 10-20%. As a result, customers will see an increase in their utility bills through the new Electric Restricted Fund Charge. However, the city projects only a slight increase in retail electric bills.
