Register for Seneca’s Sixth Annual Half-Marathon and 5K

$1,000 goes to the fastest male and female in the City of Seneca’s sixth annual Half Marathon on Saturday, March 19. Registration is currently underway for the big race as well as the 5K, explains Seneca Events Coordinator Riley Johnson. “This year we are budgeting just under 400 runners. We are way over 100 now, we usually get 100 this week, and about 50 on the day of, so we are excited to have eight states right now represented from all over the southeast. They have to stay in our hotels and they always come in a day early, stay, eat and shop. So that is good to have tourism in the community and it is going to be a great weekend.” Motorists are encouraged to watch for runners around town Saturday morning, adds Johnson. “There will be one lane blocked in and around the city. This is the sixth year, so my hat is off to Lt. Brian Sheriff with the Seneca Police Department, who does a tremendous job keeping everybody safe and getting everybody through town too so there are no traffic delays.” Walk up registration will be available Saturday morning at the Shaver Recreation Complex, which is located at 698 West South 4th Street in Seneca starting at 6:30am. However, there is no guarantee for a race shirt on day of registration, so register now online at www.seneca.sc.us.
