Rep. Duncan “Vehemently Opposed” to teaching Critical Race Theory

US Representative Jeff Duncan, this week, joined a letter with his colleagues from the South Carolina delegation, stating their vehement opposition to what they called “the manifestation of Critical Race Theory in our public learning institutions.”

Duncan said that as a member of Congress who represents many University of South Carolina and Clemson students, he is deeply concerned about forcing dangerous Marxist principles on the next generation of South Carolinians. The letter called for USC and Clemson to “eradicate any related classes or learning initiatives immediately,” which are related to Critical Race Theory. The letter cites a recent, multi-day event at USC that taught Critical Race Theory.

Gov. Henry McMaster said earlier this month that he doesn’t believe K-12 students should be taught critical race theory, but that college students should be allowed to take whatever courses they would like.
