Report of Vehicle Hit by Train

Reports indicate that a vehicle was hit by a train in the vicinity of Nebo Church Rd and Crepe Myrtle Drive around 12:30 Thursday afternoon. Emergency responders said the car involved in the crash was found approximately one-quarter of a mile down the track from the initial point of impact. An injured individual was located near Carradine Road.

A medical helicopter landing was arranged at nearby Oconee Regional Airport. A spokesperson with Oconee Emergency Services said the accident involved a train on a seldom-used Norfolk Southern spur track between Anderson and West Union.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is leading the investigation.
