Report: One Dead After Shooting Near Lake Keowee

Update: Oconee County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as Nathan Drew Morgan, a 29-year old Walhalla resident.

Update 2-OCSO

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation into a shooting that occurred this afternoon on Lake Keowee near the Salem area.

There is no danger to the public.

Deputies with the Uniform Patrol Division, the Criminal Investigations Division and the Special Operations Division (which includes the Marine Unit) were dispatched to the scene.  The incident reportedly involved subjects on a boat and a wave runner.  A man was shot and killed on the pontoon boat, according to investigators.

The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources and the Oconee County Coroner’s Office have also responded to the scene.

Investigators report that all parties involved in the incident have been identified and are cooperating with the investigation.  The names of the parties involved, and specific details about the incident, will not be released at this time due to the ongoing investigation.

Initial reports this Tuesday afternoon into our newsroom indicate that three people were shot, one dead, at a location near Fall Creek Landing #2 on Lake Keowee.

We are told that EMS and Sheriff’s Deputies were called around 2:30pm this afternoon to a location on Sweet Fern Trail to the reported incident.

Details are sparse at the moment, and when more information becomes available we will share it with you.
