Reserve Space at OC Parks

Oconee County is known as the “Golden Corner” because of its climate, three lakes and the Blue Ridge Mountains, which offer the perfect setting for an affordable family vacation. Reserve space today at one of the three parks, encourages Oconee County Parks, Recreation and tourism executive director Phil Shirley, because they fill up fast. “You can make reservations for both camping and the rental of shelters. We started reservations for camping; this is our second summer, through Reserve America, which is the same system that our State Park system uses.” This is the second year that the county is taking reservations for space in Chau Ram, High Falls and South Cove County Parks, continues Shirley. “It has been a transition to get from a first-come first-served park set up to a reservation set up. We have tried our best to accommodate the customers, both our locals who want to stay for a long period versus the visitors who want to come and stay on the weekend. I don’t think we have achieved, what I would call, great success, yet. The system is working, camping is up but from a satisfaction stand point there are still some things after this year that I think we are still going to work on to make it a little better.” The three parks offer 216 campsites, which are all near whitewater rafting, lakes, mountains and waterfalls. Make reservations months in advance, concludes Shirley. “You can reserve up to 11 months in advance, locals we give up to 12 months in advance, so that you can go in and say I want to stay for 30 days, I can plan it and set it up and those sites are there for you.” To reserve space at Chau Ram, High Falls and South Cove Parks in Oconee County, call 1-877-685-2537.
