Rezoning Request for Multi-Family Housing

Seneca city administrator Scott Moulder has requested a two-week delay on a council vote regarding a rezoning request for a proposed multi-family housing project by Mercy Housing Southeast. The request, initially denied by the Seneca Planning Commission, is being reconsidered with potential changes, including commercial development. Moulder will work with Mercy Housing representative Ronita Hoffer to find a mutually beneficial solution…

The council approved the first reading of the zoning change with a 6-2 vote. Moulder plans to discuss the viability of the project with planning commission chairman Barry Duvall. The property in question is located behind the Hampton Inn Hotel off East North First Street. Mercy Housing is open to changing the zoning from R-16 to a combination of residential and commercial use.
