Rucker sentenced to 47 Years
A man will spend the next 47-years behind bars for killing an Upstate woman and her unborn child. Tenth Circuit Solicitor Chrissy Adams announces that Keith Rucker pled guilty in Anderson General Sessions Court to voluntary manslaughter and death of a child in utero. The Honorable Cordell Maddox sentenced him to 30 years on the manslaughter charge and 17 years on the death of a child in utero charge. The sentences are to be served consecutively. On January 18, 2011, when Kacey Roberson failed to pick up her two children from daycare, the school contacted her stepfather to have him do a wellness check. Upon arrival at the victim’s apartment, the stepfather found her lying on the floor with her head covered in blood. She was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS. Ms. Roberson was 16 weeks pregnant at the time of her death. Her car was found abandoned in Lavonia, Georgia. Rucker turned himself in to the Lavonia Police Department and was returned to Anderson. The defendant gave two statements regarding the details surrounding Ms. Roberson’s death and that of their unborn child.
