Safe Harbor Benefit Concert is Saturday

A benefit concert for the Oconee County project of Safe Harbor will be held Saturday, Aug. 24, 6pm at the Walhalla High School Auditorium.  Lisa Nalley of Sun City Promotions gives details.  “We need this shelter for victims of domestic abuse here in Oconee County and this will be an opportunity to come and hear a variety of musical artists, win some donated door prizes, and help establish the Safe Harbor house.”  The artists are contributing their time and talents and it will be a great evening of family entertainment. Officials with Safe Harbor say they are two-thirds of the way towards their goal of raising nearly $1 million to open the shelter in Oconee County, there is still more work to be done and more money to be raised. A Seneca couple, Bob and Fran Hanson, has offered to match all contributions to Safe Harbor through September. “We have a great opportunity to double donations by attending the concert and receive a tax deduction also,” Nalley said. “We invite the community to come and enjoy these great artists and help to finish the Oconee Project.” In addition to Jaycie Ward of Beech Island, SC who continues to open for major artists as her career develops, The Singing Christians of Seneca and Blue Ridge of Franklin, NC will also participate in the concert. Tickets a $12 for adults and free to children under 12.  Tickets may be ordered on line at http://www.eventbrite.com/ and at several local outlets.
