Safe Harbor ribbon-cutting

Plans are in the works for a ribbon-cutting ceremony this summer to mark the opening of Safe Harbor’s new domestic violence shelter in Oconee County. Kay Davis, a member of the Oconee County Advisory Board for Safe Harbor and a survivor of domestic violence, gives the date.  “We are going to have a ribbon cutting on July 8.  It is going to be at the Shaver Recreation Complex in Seneca.  We are going to be able to provide hope to all of the women in Oconee County for the first time ever.” The actual location of the shelter is kept secret.  Forty-seven percent of Oconee County residents know someone in the community who has suffered from abuse.  The community is invited to the ribbon cutting ceremony.
