Salem Man Arrested on First Degree Burglary and Petit Larceny Charges

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Salem man this past weekend on outstanding warrants charging him with First Degree Burglary and Petit Larceny.

24 year old David Ronald Ramey was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 12:50pm last Saturday. Ramey was also served a Magistrates Bench Warrant and a hold has been placed on Ramey by the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office.

The charges against Ramey by the Sheriff’s Office stem from a call for service regarding a burglary that the Sheriff’s Office responded to during the afternoon hours of February 3rd in which entry was made into the residence and items were taken.

The case was turned over to the Criminal Investigations Division. Based upon evidence that was gathered during the investigation, it was determined that Ramey committed the burglary and larceny on January 21st of this year.

Ramey was taken into custody after a pursuit Friday afternoon that began on Highway 130 in Oconee County on a silver Honda Accord after traffic violations were committed. The pursuit stretched into Pickens County and the vehicle was eventually located at an address on Woodall Mountain Road in Pickens.

While looking for the driver of the vehicle involved in the pursuit at the Woodall Mountain Road address, deputies located Ramey on the property. Ramey was arrested and transported to the Pickens County Detention Center on charges from the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office.

Ramey was released from the Pickens County Detention Center on Saturday and transported to the Oconee County Detention Center. At this time, Ramey remains in custody at the Oconee County Detention Center. He was given a combined $52,125.00 surety bond.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance and help in the pursuit and arrest on Friday.
