Salvation Army warns of Scam

Upstate residents are being warned about a door-to-door scam.  The Salvation Army reports receiving calls from people in Anderson County claiming someone asking for money approached them.  Officials with the Salvation Army say the non-profit organization does not knock on doors for donations. Donations are only solicited through the famous Red Kettle Campaign or the Salvation Army’s web site.  Scammers are primarily targeting senior citizens.  If someone solicits money from you, you are urged to call police. If you have any questions about donations, you can contact your local Salvation Army Chapter.
