SC Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy honors Legislators

The South Carolina Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy will award State Rep. B.R. Skelton the Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his promotion of the health and well-being of South Carolina teens during the SC Campaign’s annual Legislative Day at the South Carolina Statehouse. The SC Campaign will also recognize State Sen. Thomas Alexander and State Rep. Jenny Horne as Legislators of the Year for their dedication to and tireless support of the prevention of teen pregnancy in South Carolina. Rep. B.R. Skelton, who represents Pickens County, has served in the SC House of Representatives since 2003. He is a professor emeritus of economics at Clemson University and currently serves on the House Ways and Means Committee. Sen. Thomas Alexander, who represents Oconee and Pickens counties, previously served in the SC House of Representatives from 1987 to 1994 before being elected to the SC Senate. He currently serves as Chairman of the Senate Labor, Commerce and Industry Committee. Rep. Jenny Horne, who represents Charleston and Dorchester counties, has served in the SC House of Representatives since 2009. She was the 2011 South Carolina Association of Personal Care Providers Legislator of the Year and the 2014 South Carolina Coalition for Access to Healthcare Gold Star Legislative Champion. The SC Campaign annually recognizes members of the General Assembly for their support and commitment toward reducing teen pregnancies in the state.
