SC Fugitive arrested in Michigan

United States Attorney William N. Nettles announces that members of the United States Marshals Service arrested 47-year-old Michael Gill in Detroit, Michigan. A federal grand jury in South Carolina indicted Gill, along with numerous other co-defendants, in the spring of 2010. The indictment alleges that Gill and others conspired to possess with the intent to distribute 5 kilograms or more of cocaine and a quantity of marijuana. All charges in an indictment are merely accusations, and Gill is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. If convicted, Gill faces a mandatory minimum of 10 years imprisonment and a maximum of life imprisonment. Agents of the Drug Enforcement Administration in Atlanta, Georgia, and Greenville, South Carolina, members of the U.S. Marshals Service in Detroit, Michigan, Atlanta, Georgia, and Greenville, South Carolina, the Great Lakes Organized Crime and Drug Enforcement Task Force, the Southeast Regional Organized Crime and Drug Enforcement Task Force, and numerous state and local agencies in these locations investigated the case.
