SC Gov.’s School ranks in America’s Top High Schools

Two leading news organizations rank the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts & Humanities in their listings for Top High Schools in America for 2014. SCGSAH ranks 101 out of 14,000 public schools in Newsweek’s America’s Top High Schools 2014, putting the Governor’s School in the top 1% in the nation. Not only was the Governor’s School the highest ranking South Carolina school in these Newsweek rankings, the school was also recognized with a gold star, meaning “low-income students are scoring at or above the average on state assessments.” The Governor’s School also ranks 23rd on the list of 2014 America’s Top High Schools by leading online news agency The Daily Beast. As the only arts-centered public high school of its kind in the top 25 rankings, the Governor’s School gives artistically talented students throughout South Carolina the opportunity to study their art in an environment of artistic and academic excellence. Approximately 1,200 of the top public high schools in the U.S. were reviewed by The Daily Beast using key indicators, among these are graduation and college acceptance rates, academic rigor, and student performance on college admission exams.
