SC reports Lowest Unemployment Rate since 2008

In October, the state’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate declined significantly to 7.5% from 7.9% in September.  The South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce reports this is the lowest the rate has been since September 2008 and the closest to the national rate since September 2002. The national unemployment rate for October was estimated at 7.3%, up slightly from September’s rate of 7.2%.  Locally, OconeeCounty’s jobless rate dropped from 7.9% in September to 7.5% in October.  AndersonCounty’s unemployment rate fell from 6.9% in September to 6.5% in October and PickensCounty’s rate dropped from 6.4% in September to 6.1% in October.
