SCDMV restricting Services to Bad Check Writers

The South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles is cracking down on writers of bad checks.  The DMV will no longer serve anyone who writes the agency a bad check. So far in 2014, the SC DMV has already received more than $2 million worth of bad checks.  DMV officials state that until writers of bad checks pay fees, they cannot renew driver’s license or vehicle registration as well as apply for an official plaque. A $30 returned check fee and the full amount of your check is now necessary to clear an outstanding account. In addition, bad check writers cannot use personal checks at any SC DMV office for three years, nor can you pay cash.
