SCDNR Offering Free Boat Safety Inspections Independence Day Weekend

The S.C. Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR) Law Enforcement Division will conduct courtesy boat inspections at public boat landings around the state on July 1, July 2 and July 4. The inspections are to ensure boaters have the required safety equipment and proper boat and motor registrations. Boaters who do not meet the safety regulations or registration requirements will not be ticketed but will be allowed to fix the problem before launching their boat. SCDNR officers will also provide boating safety tips and answer questions. The inspections are part of the efforts to keep people and waterways safe during the busy July 4th holiday weekend. The inspection locations for Pickens County and Oconee County are:

  • Saturday, July 1: Twin Lakes Landing, Lake Hartwell, 10 a.m. to Noon
  • Sunday, July 2: South Cove County Park Landing, Lake Keowee, 10 a.m. to Noon
  • Tuesday, July 4: Devils Fork State Park Landing, Lake Jocassee, 8-10 a.m.
