SCDOT Opens Public Comments for Removal of Two Phases of Bridge Replacement project over Huntington Creek in Anderson County

The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) requests comments from the public on the removal of two phases of work from the S-1021 Bridge Replacement project over Huntington Creek in Anderson County.

The Transportation Commission approved, during its March 18 meeting, a public comment period for the proposed project change to remove both right of way in (FY 2022) and construction in (FY 2024) from the Bridge Replacement.

The public has the opportunity to comment on the action to amend the 2017- 2022 Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) to remove the project’s right of way costs of $217,800 and construction cost $1,672,200. SCDOT will receive public comment for a 21-day period from March 23, 2021 through April 13, 2021.

After reevaluation of the bridge, it was determined that the bridge meets current standards and does not require replacement. Pending consideration of public comments, the deletion will be recommended in a future version of the STIP.
