School District of Oconee County Board of Trustees Approves Purchase of Land for New Seneca Middle School

(Seneca, SC)———————–A process that began last summer to find land to build a new Seneca Middle School is one step closer to reality after the School District of Oconee County Board of Trustees approved 5-0 last night to purchase property at Wells Highway at Garrison Road in Seneca for the new school that is scheduled to be completed as soon as 2023.

The amount of land that was agreed to be purchased is around 40 acres at a cost of around $830,000. The purchase should be closed sometime in March.

Also, the School Board authorized the School District to conduct a bond sale in the middle of March for up to $16.5 million dollars which will go toward construction projects. According to Hanvey, about 95% of the money from the bond sale will go towards the construction of the new Hamilton Career Center.
