School District Of Oconee County Board Of Trustees To Hold Work Session Tonight

(Seneca, SC)———The School District of Oconee County Board of Trustees will hold a Work Session tonight in the School Board Conference Room on Pine Street in Walhalla. 

The big item on the agenda will be continued discussion and the second reading of the Fiscal Year 2020 General Fund Budget. 

According to information released by the School District, the School District is showing total expenditures of over $106 million dollars for the fiscal year which begins July 1st. The budget, as it stands right now, shows a deficit of over $2.4 million dollars. 

The budget document is showing additional revenue from a 1 mill tax increase, which adds additional revenue of over $411,000. Comparing the budget from this year compared to last year, this year’s budget is showing over $2.8 million dollars in salary increases from last year and over $2.2 million dollars in increases in fringe benefits, payroll taxes and matching expenses as compared with last year.
