Science and Mathematics Gov’s School announces New Board Members

The South Carolina Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics (GSSM) announces the appointment of the following individuals to the Board of Trustees: Dr. Joe Griffin, III of Griffin Plastic Surgery in Florence will serve as an at-large member, John Barnes, Jr., executive vice president of Comporium in Rock Hill represents the 5th District, and Randal Senn, CIO of SCANA in Columbia was elected to chair the GSSM Foundation. The mission of the South Carolina Governor’s School for Science & Mathematics is to offer our state’s most academically motivated students a unique learning environment that strengthens their ability to think critically, stimulates the joy of learning and fosters the excitement of discovery through hands-on scientific research. The purpose of GSSM is to positively impact South Carolina’s economic development through the cultivation of our current students and alumni, who are our state’s future political and business leaders. The three new board members join 15 current members from across the state.
