SDOC announces New Logo Contest Winner

Amy WelchThe district website contract for the School District of Oconee County (SDOC) ends this summer and development is underway on the new website. This has provided an opportunity for a new look and a fresh start in several areas. Therefore, SDOC launched a logo contest throughout the county this spring. Students, teachers, and community members sent in over 110 entries. A small group selected the top 20 entries. Over 715 members of various internal and external advisory and employee groups then voted on those 20 entries. One logo was the favorite by a large margin and was recently identified as the winner of the contest. The SDOC congratulates Amy Welch, marketing teacher at Hamilton Career Center, for creating the winning logo. Amy and the new logo were recognized at the board meeting on May 9, 2016. Board Chairman Andy Inabinet also presented Amy with a $100 check as a token of appreciation. SDOC is excited that the new logo will represent the district through the talent of one of our own employees. The new logo will soon be revealed on the new website and will be incorporated into all other district materials at that point.
