SDOC announces Sports Opportunities this Spring

Parents of elementary students in the School District of Oconee County (SDOC) have two sports opportunities for their children to enjoy this spring. The Walhalla High School (WHS) Men’s Varsity Soccer team is sponsoring a free youth soccer clinic for boys ages 5-13. The clinic will be held from 4-5:30pm on March 10, March 24, April 7, and April 21, 2017 at the WHS Soccer Field. Contact Coach Miguel Resendiz for more information at 864-886-4490 or [email protected]. Blue Ridge Junior Golf of Oconee County will hold golf clinics for 4-6th graders in Oconee County. There are two sessions available; one in March and one in April. Each session has four classes from 4-5pm. Both sessions still have slots available. There is a small registration fee but there are scholarships available. They also adjust their program in the event of physical challenges. Those interested should call Deborah Durland at 864-719-0062 or email her at [email protected] for more information. This group consists of local volunteers who work with area PGA Golf Pros to teach elementary students in Oconee County about golf basics, including course etiquette, along with character building attributes of sportsmanship, focus, and perseverance. This nonprofit is in its 20th year and is the only one of its kind in South Carolina.
