SDOC appoints New Administrators

At a special called board meeting today, April 25, the Board of Trustees for the School District of Oconee County (SDOC) accepted the recommendation of two new administrators, effective July 1, 2018. Stephanie Hammond was named the new principal of Blue Ridge Elementary. She has 29 years of experience as a teacher and administrator. She is currently the Principal of Mossy Creek Elementary School in North Augusta, SC. She has served as the principal of Mossy Creek Elementary for nine years. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Clemson University and a Master’s degree in Educational Administration from the University of South Carolina. “I am excited to have the opportunity to serve the faculty, staff, students, and parents of Blue Ridge Elementary School. I feel honored to have been chosen to be a part of this wonderful community.” Dr. Darrell G. McDowell was named the new principal of Seneca Middle School. Dr. McDowell has 35 years of experience as a teacher and administrator. He is currently the Principal at Lavonia Elementary School in Franklin County, Georgia. He has 17 years of experience as a middle and high school principal. Dr. McDowell holds a bachelor’s degree from Appalachian State University, He received both his master’s degree in Administration and a doctorate degree in Educational Leadership from Western Carolina University. “I am thrilled and humbled to have the chance to join the Oconee County Administrative Team as the new Principal at Seneca Middle School. I am excited to begin the process of building positive and productive relationships with our students, parents, staff, and the Seneca and Oconee County community. We will continue to grow and move forward with high expectations and a deep love for children.”
