SDOC appoints New Administrators

At a special called meeting on Wednesday, March 28, the Board of Trustees for the School District of Oconee County (SDOC) accepted the recommendation of two new administrators. Al LeRoy was named Director of Human Resources to replace the retiring Earnestine Williams, tells Oconee County Schools Superintendent Dr. Michael Thorsland. “Mr. LeRoy has twenty three years of experience as a teacher and administrator. He is currently the Principal of Seneca Middle School. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Secondary Education Social Studies and Masters of Education degree in Administration and Supervision from Clemson University. He also holds a Specialist of Education degree in Educational Leadership Superintendency from Arkansas State University.” “It is with great excitement, energy, and humility that I approach this opportunity to give back to the school district that has given so much to me personally and professionally. I look forward to the opportunities to recruit, secure, develop, and retain the best certified and support staffs to serve our district’s greatest asset, its students,” said LeRoy. The board also named a new principal for West-Oak Middle School, tells Dr. Thorsland. “Melody “April” Gambrell named new principal of West-Oak Middle School. Mrs. Gambrell has eighteen years of experience as a teacher and administrator. She is currently an assistant principal at West-Oak High School. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in special education and Masters of Education degree from Southern Wesleyan University. She completed her Leadership and Supervision in Secondary Administration at Clemson University.” “I am honored to have the opportunity to serve as principal of West-Oak Middle School. I am excited to have the privilege to work with the students, faculty and staff,” said Gambrell. All appointments are effective July 1, 2018.
