SDOC conducts 4K Screenings this week

The School District of Oconee County conducts 4K screenings this Wednesday, June 17. In order to participate in the process, the child must be 4-years-old on or before Sept. 1, 2015. Oconee County Schools Assistant Superintendent of Operations Steve Hanvey said only two screenings are left this summer. “We had three screenings prior to this, so we are trying to get the overflow and catch up with the ones who have missed those opportunities because we want to get as many of our eligible 4K screened as possible. They are done on a priority ranked list and we want to make sure that the kids who need that class the most are screened and able to get in there.” The final screenings are scheduled for August 31. Hanvey says you must register for a screening. “Register to come in, there are several different things that the children do with our staff, there is also some more paper work that parents have to bring in to show eligibility, so they can get all that information by calling our Office of Instruction.” The screenings take place at the School District Office located at 414 South Pine Street in Walhalla.
